Ravens
Park is a district of a large town which is situated "somewhere between
Rugby and Preston" and served by the London Midland Region of British
Railways. The layout follows the classic form of double track loop, with
scenic development at the front and hidden storage roads at the rear,
and is designed to exploit the full potential of N gauge by presenting
a spacious and uncluttered scene within a relatively small area.
The station consists of two island platforms with two through and two bay roads, permitting both through and terminal working. A small goods yard is provided, but the emphasis is on providing an intensive passenger service. In designing the model, we have attempted to produce a "railwaylike" model in a realistic urban environment, with as much attention given to the surrounding area as to the railway itself. We have also tried to avoid certain features once considered almost obligatory. There is, therefore, neither a branch line or engine shed; in fact a station of this size would not normally have its own MPD, as locomotives would be obtained from the nearest shed. The layout has been sold. |
