7mm Scale/14mm Gauge
This is the clubs second attempt at TIDMERIC, now an industrial layout set in the early 1950's. As the prototypes were very small, a true scale gauge of 14mm = 2ft has been chosen. Several kits are currently available for 14mm gauge, some with ready to run chassis. Trackwork however has to be scratchbuilt using code "82" rail spiked to limewood sleepers available in the correct strip size from your local model boat shop. The points are operated by coreless stall motors and couplers are "Kadee" N scale operated by electromagnets. The rocks are plaster castings painted with car spray paints then dry brushed; the water is clear casting resin.

You may recognise the strong influence of the prototype on the crusher (Miltown Quarry on the Ashover), tippler (East Pool Mine on the Cambourne and Redruth Tramway) and trestle (Vale of Rheidol). Even the disused quarry is on loan from the Dinorwic although what a Festiniog signal is doing in Derbyshire is anyone's guess!
