TWICKENHAM JUNCTION
OO
4mm Scale/16.5mm Gauge

Twickenham Junction is T&DMRC’s new, continuous run, DCC operated, OO gauge layout – ultimately, it will be 32ft x 10ft with a 25ft scenic section. Work started on this ambitious project during April 2009 and the group building it are aiming for an appearance at the Club’s 50th anniversary exhibition in May 2011.

Set in the early 1960s, Twickenham Junction depicts the Victorian station at Twickenham as though re-development had not taken place during the 1940s/50s and the original station had remained in use. The model will showcase Southern Region steam and electric traction with some early diesels also making an appearance. Members are already building and preparing stock for future exhibition use to replicate a typical Summer Saturday service with one or two extras.

Twickenham Junction will be the first scenic front to be linked to the Club’s OO/HO fourteen road Common Fiddle Yard. This fiddle yard will be available for future Club projects which use 16.5mm track gauge as it will be laid with PECO code 100 to facilitate the use of virtually any wheel standard on future scenic fronts. The baseboards for both Twickenham Junction and the Common Fiddle Yard have been built and the next major jobs are track-laying and wiring.

This is a large and exacting project! Part of the Group’s ethos is to pass skills onto newer modellers and so whether you are an expert or a beginner, we would welcome you into the Twickenham Junction Group. Come and meet us on a Friday when the team are beavering away or when we are making the most of the Club’s monthly Saturday workdays.
