Purpose of Layout
To provide direct “hands on” 4mm scale modelling activity for younger club members under the guidance of established members
Design Criteria
Small and easily transportable by average car. To build a “first serious model railway” as opposed to a traditional train set.
Layout Theme
The project is a small layout able to be constructed to a display standard in a very short time. The layout seeks to provide visual and operational interest based on Light Railway practice.
Track
PECO code 75, small radius electrofrog points laid on 3mm cork
Electrical
Wiring and connections to layout will allow use of DCC type controls.

Key to Trackplan
A. Entry from storage cassette, clearance for 0-6-0 tank engine.
B. Station, single platform and waiting shelter.
C. Goods shed
D. Engine Shed, ashpit and coal stage etc.
E. Head shunt, just enough for tank engine and 2-3 wagons.
F. Industry, fairly tall to act as view block.
G. Brake van storage |
