Batty Moor. ‘N’ scale, 9mm Gauge
The Clubs ‘N’ gauge layout ‘Batty Moor’ is based on the sidings at Blea Moor just North of the Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle to Carlisle Railway.
As the area changed very little between 1945 and 1965 we run trains from post war LMS, through nationalisation, and BR steam to the green diesel period. Not all at once but in set periods. The train formations are modelled on actual prototypes that ran along the Settle to Carlisle from The Thames Clyde Express to the various mineral workings.
The back scene is constructed from photographs taken on site. All the buildings and structures are scratch built and although it is not an exact model of the area it is very recognisable.
The last Friday of every month sees a running session. Alternate months are a 'test track evening' when members' stock, of any prototype, can be run over the long continuous circuits that the track plan offers. The locos are normally controlled using conventional DC but privately owned DCC systems can easily be connected.
