| Watersfield is a village
in Sussex, and in reality was not served by a railway. The model
is based loosely on nearby Pulborough, an intermediate station
on the Arun Valley line, which was also an interchange station
for the former Midhurst branch. The period modelled is c.1930,
well before this line was electrified.
Watersfield is the second layout to be constructed by the
Club's O Gauge Group, and this is the first time it has been
exhibited in its entirety. The trackwork is hand-built onto
plywood sleepers and points are operated by coreless motors,
whilst signalling is complete but not yet fully operational.
The station buildings are a scale model of Pulborough - in
mirror image! Group members are gradually acquiring sufficient
rolling stock to enable a sequence of representative trains
of the period to be run.
