Addison Road.  7mm scale, 32mm Gauge

Return to Layouts

Our ambitious new ‘0’ scale project is based on Addison Road station on the West London line in Kensington. Originally built jointly by the LNWR & GWR, this station, in a greatly reduced form, will be better known to many of you by its current name - Kensington (Olympia).

The model represents the station in the mid-1920s when rolling stock from all the Big Four railway companies can be run alongside some pre-grouping liveries and yet still be prototypically correct.

The station at Addison Road has been thoroughly researched and the layout promises to be one of the Club's most prototypically accurate projects to date. At approximately fifty feet long and with baseboards nearly five feet wide this is also the Club's largest ever project.

Notable elements are the inclusion of laser cut parts for the buildings, MERG CBUS layout control, the third and fourth rails on the electrified lines and a specially created etched brass kit of the distinctive Oerlikon electric multiple unit stock.

The tracks are operational allowing monthly operating sessions and efforts are turning to the station structures and signalling.

The Club welcomes modellers of all abilities to come and join the team building Addison Road. Potential members should contact the secretary
